I think a better idea will be to upstream this. Last commit in xdg-user-
dirs git is from 2014.

Right, as written on the duplicate bug
The current script uses Xsession.d which doesn't work under wayland, it
looks like fedora added an autostart .desktop to do the job (which they
didn't upstream :-(), we should have a look at doing the same

xdg-user-dirs normally runs on first login to create these dirs, not an
installer issue ...
