Confirmed in Ubuntu 20.04 GNOME Flashback. @Khurshid-alam I have confirmed this bug on a standalone install of compiz on Ubuntu server 18.04 - no unity, no mate, nothing. Same results with both the application switcher and static application switcher - can't change the background color or opacity. @khurshid-alam is right that this bug occurs with the Static Application Switcher compiz plugin, as well as the Application Switcher compiz plugin. Ah, right, Application-switcher is unity only. You need static- application-switcher. You can get it by installing `compiz-plugins`. It is probably mate-specific issue. Try raising the issue on https ://ubuntu-mate.community. Application switcher (Alt+Tab) is enabled by default under Unity & it is fine. See: https://i.imgur.com/add9tto.png It could also be a problem with graphics driver. Compiz not changing background color is a valid bug though. Does it also happen gnome-flashback (compiz) session? Try `compiz --replace` in terminal and toggle set-background-color.
