Unfortunately, resizing the swap partition is not something that can be
done automatically with ease. It might be possible, but my guess is
that this should end up as WONTFIX.

Alex, is there a reason you set the status to New? By now the status
should not be New any more. It seems to me this is not a bug in linux
at all and so it should be changed to invalid. Hibernation requires as
much swap space as you have ram. If you don't have enough, that is a
system
As Jeremy Foshee requested, If the issue remains, click on the current
status under the Status column and change the status back to 'New'.
Thanks..
It is perhaps not a bug in Linux, but certainly a problem with Ubuntu:
If the system gains more memory, it should adjust the swap space
accordingly

So you're saying that it is not important to have hibernation work
properly? Or do you mean that the ACPI S4 sleep state (Hibernation/safe
sleep) can somehow work without OS cooperation?

There are issues with swap files and hibernation. Simply put they would
not work. Resizing partitions automatically is hard to do reliably..
Best option really would be to put the effort into making sure the
proper ACPI sleep states work on hardware...
