[Bug 209369] Re: hardy hardware testing

2008-04-10 Thread Dave Murphy
Dilomo,

The color bars and static you see should match the screengrab I've
attached. From your description and the screenshot you provided I'd say
the problem lies with your video configuration.

Try reconfiguring your xserver so that the desktop is displayed normally
before running hwtest again.

[Bug 209369] Re: hardy hardware testing

2008-04-06 Thread Dilomo
Nope I can't see what you described like TV color test. I think that this has
something to do with the fact that I'm running the Beta inside VirtualBox.
There is also a problem with the configuration of screen resolution with
Screens and Graphics - it shows totally distorted screen (actually two and a
half of them with three mice and three desktops covered with smth like TV
snow/noise but not exactly). I attach a screenshot with the after effects :)
In Screen and Graphics I use: LCD panel 1280x1024, 60Hz and the generic vesa
driver.

[Bug 209369] Re: hardy hardware testing

2008-04-05 Thread Dereck Wonnacott
Thank you for your time in running the Hardware Test! When you run that
specific text a second window should be displayed that would simulate a
video.

The window looks like a color test pattern for TVs with the lower right
hand corner being static, as if the old analog TV was tuned to a channel
that was not broadcasting.

Try the test again and see if you can see the video, it is not referring
to the text label.
