I was the one who added the Brother HL-4040CN to the foomatic database. According to the printer's specifications (provided by Brother), there is no Postscript language support. I don't run Ubuntu, but the default driver from foomatic should be pxlmono. Is there anyway the fixed can be released for 8.04? Not sure if this has been recently changed in foomatic-db, in that case this is probably already fixed in Intrepid.
