[Bug 262843] Re: [2.6.27-2.3] (sometimes temporary ?!) system deadlock with io_schedule

2013-09-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Kees Cook, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

I upgraded to jaunty two or three weeks ago and use the jaunty kernel
(currently 2.6.28-8) since then without problems.

2009-02-24 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Would anyone be willing to test with the latest pre-release of Jaunty
9.04 (currently Alpha4). It contains a newer 2.6.28 based kernel. It
would be great to know if this issue remains. Also note that Jaunty
Alpha5 is expected to come out within the next few days so you may want
to test with this even newer Alpha -
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . Please let us know your
results. I'm also reassigning this to the ubuntu-kernel-team. Thanks.

[Bug 262843] Re: [2.6.27-2.3] (sometimes temporary ?!) system deadlock with io_schedule

2008-09-25 Thread Kees Cook
I think this is likely due to one of the two AppArmor patches between
-1.2 and -2.3. I presently suspect the ptrace changes, and my most
recent errors while running -2.3 triggered after doing a bunch of
ptrace'ing with gdb. (Currently building a bisected kernel...)

[Bug 262843] Re: [2.6.27-2.3] (sometimes temporary ?!) system deadlock with io_schedule

2008-09-11 Thread Kees Cook
** Summary changed:

- [2.6.27-2.3] temporary (?!) system deadlock with io_schedule
+ [2.6.27-2.3] (sometimes temporary ?!) system deadlock with io_schedule

** Description changed:

System started to have IO lock-ups until I maximized (?!) one of the
- deadlocked processes, and then all blocked processes continued.
+ deadlocked processes, and then all blocked processes continued. Most of
+ the time, though, it just slowly hangs more and more of the system until
+ I have a full hardlock.

[Bug 262843] Re: [2.6.27-2.3] (sometimes temporary ?!) system deadlock with io_schedule

2008-09-11 Thread Michael Bienia
As this problem was bugging me too much, I switched back to 2.6.27-1.2
where I didn't see this yet.
