First reply: No, -2 does not fix the issue, you get a

A review of the source code reveiled the known source is not patched.

Jaunty has a -2 version from Debian now, reporting that it backports
some fixes.

Could you please check if your fix is included in that version, and if not 
prepare
a new patch on top of that version.

The url was not the right patch. I applied another patch to the current
Intrepid silc-toolkit as the error is actually there.

I can confirm this behaviour in intrepid, it is sufficient to join a
channel with a private channel key, setting the private channel key, and
calling /quit.

I checked this bug against Intrepid and it still exists. In order to
reproduce:

- start silc session
- connect to a server
- join a channel that has a /key channel CHANNELNAME password PASSWORD set 
and set it
- probably join another channel
- /quit

silc-client will crash with a hint on silccipher.c:377 when having
debug symbols installed.
