probably because of this problem I cannot shutdown/reboot with acpi but
have to push the power button for several seconds after shutdown to

[Bug 376367] Re: Repeated ACPI Errors and Exceptions in Log Files

2010-03-16 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi nopycckn,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run
the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 376367

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 376367] Re: Repeated ACPI Errors and Exceptions in Log Files

2009-10-07 Thread Gary D. Huffman, II
I'm experiencing this as well on a HP Pavilion a730n running a fresh
Ubuntu v9.04 install (with all 4 classes of updates enabled). All
firmware is the latest available. The messages are not very frequent,
apparently occurring only when the system goes out of active cooling
mode:

ACPI Error (psargs-0358): [\_TZ_.THRM] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Error (psparse-0524): Method parse/execution failed [\_GPE._L1C] (Node
f6c14450), AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Exception (evgpe-0571): AE_NOT_FOUND, while evaluating GPE method [_L1C]
[20080926]

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to assist in solving
this problem.

[Bug 376367] Re: Repeated ACPI Errors and Exceptions in Log Files

2009-05-15 Thread nopycckn
** Description changed:

  I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope.
I'm receiving ACPI error and exception messages over and over again,
regularly. They're definitely showing up in the following log files:

  messages
  kern.log
  syslog

  May 13 23:36:05 one kernel: [11552.529137] ACPI Error (psargs-0358):
[\_TZ_.THRM] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND
May 13 23:36:05 one kernel: [11552.529147] ACPI Error (psparse-0524): Method
parse/execution failed [\_GPE._L1C] (Node f6c13450), AE_NOT_FOUND
  May 13 23:36:05 one kernel: [11552.529180] ACPI Exception (evgpe-0571):
AE_NOT_FOUND, while evaluating GPE method [_L1C] [20080926]
  May 13 23:36:52 one kernel: [11599.505116] ACPI Error (psargs-0358):
[\_TZ_.THRM] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND
May 13 23:36:52 one kernel: [11599.505126] ACPI Error (psparse-0524): Method
parse/execution failed [\_GPE._L1C] (Node f6c13450), AE_NOT_FOUND
  May 13 23:36:52 one kernel: [11599.505158] ACPI Exception (evgpe-0571):
AE_NOT_FOUND, while evaluating GPE method [_L1C] [20080926]
This is a section, showing two seperate occassions. This happens somewhat
regularly. I have installed Ubuntu a few different times, trying different
options like acpi=off, noapic, noalpic, etc. Nothing will work. I use the
update manager regularly, I check daily for updates. I have not attempted to
use power savings options or anything of that sort, but I haven't had one
apparent problem caused by this. It also happened with Ubuntu 8.04, and when
using Fedora 10 I receive many more of the exact same messages, always in
groups of three and always repeating (at least somewhat) regularly.
+ I use a Hewlett Packard a1050y with Pentium 4 3.40 GHz hyper-threaded
processors.

** Also affects: fedora
