I believe my last install is proof enough that this is indeed fixed: I prepared my partitions manually and installation went on without a hitch. The original report says that there was lots of free space on the drive. I have the same problem with the edgy RC on an ASUS L5800DF. gparted shows the harddrive as unallocated space, as does the installer. Today I tried booting the laptop with Knoppix 5.0.1 (kernel 2.6.17); same results: Knoppix desktop shows icons for all my existing partitions; but when I try to install it to the hard disk, the partitioner (qtparted) does not detect any existing partition, and shows the disk as fully unallocated.
