It happens with Wireshark aswell, I am running 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-24 -generic-pae If I open instances of Wireshark, I can see them as long as I don't switch to another application. Same behaviour here. Specifically: 12.04 LTS 64-bit When I start Chromium, the icon appears in the launcher, but with no 'flag' (notch thing) to show it is running and it does not appear in the application switcher using Alt+Tab. Incidentally, I have the same experience with Sunbird when a launcher I had previously created in ~/.local/share/applications was present. Once that launcher was deleted, the icon appeared as normal in the app- switcher. I just installed the 12.04 beta last week, and I am experiencing this too. When launching Chromium (installed from the software center) from the launcher the icon pulses for a while, but no is shown. When using alt+tab to switch between applications the Unity also behaves like the window doesn't exist. This means that if I minimize the window it becomes unaccessible. If another window is on top of the Chromium window I have to move the occluding window to access Chromium The Spotify linux preview is showing the same behaviour. It doesn't show up in the launcher, and is not found with alt tab.
