Contrary to what melchiaros wrote on 2012-07-07 this is not all related to
nvida, inte since and AMd system have it too. This is not even new, it was the

In respect ot #2 the formulation it may be the explanation was used
which is not Contrary to what melchiaros wrote on 2012-07-07 this is

Intel graphics here, same issue. LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 picard opens
the app, but when resizing window, it crashes again.

Same problem here.
I can get it to launch without crashing or hogging the memory by
changing the QT theme to Motif (damn ugly) OR by running
LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 picard, which I thought was the perfect solution
until I resized the window and it crashed and started sucking the memory
again. QT
This bug affects me as well.
After a switch to tty1, top inform me that Xorg process toke 99% CPU.
After I Killed the picard (from tty1) process Xorg return to normal and my
computer is unfreeze.
Can provide more informations if needed.

This bug affects me as well, Worked fine on Ubuntu 12.04, but freezes my
entire system on 12.10. I am using open source ATI drivers, so it isn't
nvidia.

Bonjour,
I have reproduce this problem on 2 different machines, with both an
Nvidia and AMD GPU. Picard is not the only software affected though.
Another bug # 1003568 is open and under investigation.

I have tried to reproduce, but I can not provoce a crash.
I have seen
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia.
When you have the prop. driver installed it may be the explanation to this
crash.
In this case you should send nvidia a message(not like Torvalds - when you
have seen the video : lol)
