Another update. I have deleted all the partitions. Created a 350GB EXT4 partition. Copied a 700MB file to it no problems. Tried copying the file back off the drive to the laptops drive and the problem re occures. Therefore, this bug is when it reads from the drive rather than writes to the

Just tried - sudo echo 5 /sys/module/usb_storage/parameters/delay_use and then sudo echo 10 /sys/module/usb_storage/parameters/delay_use But no difference. Copying a 915MB file from the external hard disk fails about 50% through the copy with the same problem. -- You received this bug

I have also tried blacklist ehci_hcd in the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file but still the same problem. I think this is affected other people (even Linus Torvalds himself!) but I cannot find a fix for this. Please see - https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/14/217

One last point, this is a USB 3 drive being plugged into a laptop (Dell Precision M90) which only has USB 2. None of the external USB hard drives I use on this laptop have this problem. Just though that may help? Please let me know if you need any further information or would like me to perform
