I have a like problem in Kubuntu Feisty Fawn in kde.
When i plugged 2 usb flash memories i can eject the first one using the rigth
click menu but when i try to do the same to the second usb device the rigth
click menu doesn't show the function extract safely
i have to use eject command in

I was trying to get a hold of the error messages surrounding the kernel
OOPS you mention in your first comment. Could you look through your
/var/log/syslog files and attach the file containing that error message.
Reading your initial comment again I am under the impression you are
unable to mount
Found the following error message in /var/log/kern.log

The bug being reported is about not being able to 'eject' the USB hard
drive from the File Browser. I included the mount error messages incase
they were helpful. For now I'm not trying to force an umount on the
drive. I've attached the syslog showing the mount of BIG4CGB, the
umount of the USB
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description doesn't yet
