I have experienced this problem with all of my usb storage devices;
Digital Camera, WD 160 GB USB drive and a 1 GB pen drive.
My workaround at the moment is to manually pumount /dev/xx

This is a really annoying bug. How did this ever get past the beta phase?
Surely someone tried to remove a USB disc as a test case
Or are the users of Feisty the beta testers?

Yeah, it might also be an upstream HAL bug, but that's unlikely such a
big bug remains so long in HAL...

It's not that easy. I've been running Feisty for ages, and the USB stick
I mainly use does have two partitions.
Ejecting the thing worked flawlessly. It still does. :-/

Yes, this is also said in the above comments, usb flashdrives work, it's the
external usb hdds that don't eject properly.
(okay, maybe not in the above comments but in the comments of bug #63090 )
