Public bug reported:

Tried to do a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 on  a new Toshiba P850. I
received an error about not being able to install the bootloader in the
preferred place. I selected the top alternate location, which the
installer accepted. A minute or two later it stated the installer had
crashed and did not give any other error messages.  I was installing
from a DVD with the .iso burned to it.
