This is by now not my problem, but I have new notebook, where this

Well, this still is an issue. Weirdly I've only started noticing this in
the past year or so.

Shouldn't this be a blocker? Chrome is totally unusable as it stands.

This issue still persists so close to release.
I had Chrome open with a few tabs, and again everything became
unbearably slow. After closing Chrome, things returned to normal.
How are you guys going to tackle / fix / improve this issue?

Hello, I think I found solution. In my case problem was in Chrome
extension called Speed Dial. When I turned off this extension,
problem disappeared. Instead of this extension now I use SpeedDial2.
This problem I had also in Ubuntu 12.04.

I'm able to consistently replicate this behavior by having a number of
tabs open in Chrome, minimizing the browser then maximizing it. At that
point it freezes up and sends Xorg to 100% CPU usage.

This just now happens with Quantal Beta1, running Chromium. The hit on
the CPU by Xorg was even greater this time around (see attached
screenshot).

** Tags added: google-chrome unity
** Description changed:
I noticed that the recent Unity upgrade seems to have an issue with
- Google Chrome. Sometimes I noticed that Unity becomes really, really
- slow and unresponsive after while with Google Chrome open. Even the new
- maximize window
Please open a terminal and run top -d1. Now reproduce the problem with
Chrome.
While the slowdown is occurring, does top show any process using very
high CPU?

See screenshot attached, Daniel.
I am not sure how to reproduce this all the time, but it just now
happened and I took a screenshot as requested.

Thanks. The screenshot shows the main problem to be in Chrome itself
and/or Xorg.
