I can confirm comments #119 and #120 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS only. When using
Firefox 26 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS with the gstreamer 0.10 plugins installed I

It's not realistic to enable this option in the official builds. It is
suitable only for a distribution build like Ubuntu's where we can
control the gstreamer version in use on each build. Please reconsider

@ hackel: I thinks that Canonical make 5 build for all version of Ubuntu
( amd6, armel, armhf i386, powerpc).
In odler version of Ubuntu (10.04 for exemple), gstreamer may read H264
but not perfectly as in Ubuntu 12.04 and Canonical don't want to support
a spefic version with gstreamer enable
The question is not about the other ... In ubuntu is to be compile with
--enable-gstreamer, but by default turned off in about: config
