PowerMizer Performance Level stuck at 1 (middle) (Need 304.48)

Mine is stuck at level 2 and never drops, which is a waste of power
since my desktop lives in flatland.
I hear tales of it getting a bit juddery at level 0, but it would be
nice to drop to level 1 without resorting to editing the Xorg file.
