Fortunately, I have another partition on the same computer running
powerpc 12.04 which i am using right now. It surptrised me to see that
this bug made it through from the 12.10 installation as I thought my
12.10 froze to soon. Need to mark the install attempt as a failure on
qa-tracker and tie it

For the install you are using radeon.agpmode=-1 (which usually fixes
freezes) but for the booted system you don't have that parameter. The
installer is a bit random on what it copies.can we deduce it
probably copies stuff beginning video= but not other stuff?
