sudo apt-get install gdm
or
sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
(if you've already installed gdm but left lightdm as the default login
manager)
and select gdm as the default login manager. The issue is gone. This is

Hi again,
Strange thing, the bug has come back, but only on my 32 bits install;
works fine in the 64 bits (both upgraded from 12.04)
Alternative-menu extension is deactivated, so it's not the culprit.
The error in ~/.xsession-errors is
JS ERROR: !!! Exception was: Gio.IOErrorEnum: Cannot
Also, the bug is only there when using lightdm. With gdm suspend works
fine.

The following does work though:
dbus-send --system --print-reply \
--dest=org.freedesktop.UPower \
/org/freedesktop/UPower \

First make sure you have all the updates installed and restart. Then if
you still have the bug, run ubuntu-bug gnome-shell and fill out the

Hi Jeremy, installing the latest updates didn't fix this issue for me
immediately. But now it works, perhaps a system reboot was required?

Ok, that's good news. I just wanted to make sure gdm and gnome-shell had
been completely stopped and restarted after updating and just telling
