Aside from the fact that downgrading is not very well supported or tested, may carry extra risks to users (eg, broken profiles, downgrade failures) and wastes build capacity and engineering resource that is needed elsewhere, you'd rather we offered you a downgrade to a version that reintroduces

As mentioned by Chris Coulson (chrisccoulson), since Firefox 16.0.1 has already been published it is better to update once version 16.0.1 is in the Ubuntu repos. There was a reason why 16.0 prompted Mozilla to take it down from their main website. Synaptic can choose an older version by Force

I'm well aware of the reason Mozilla pulled 16.0 and turned off updates, thanks. But it is easy for them to do that without breaking their updater (note, they didn't downgrade anybody) and without users noticing. We don't have a good way of doing that because when 16.0 is uploaded it replaces the
