2013-01-24 Thread MattLevesque
I have the same issue. If I plug in headphones on my frontpanel it
stops.

I've also tried to disable the 'Auto-Mute' but I didn't see any
improvement.

[Bug 1066062] Re: [quantal] Sound volume changes without user interaction

2012-11-13 Thread Raymond
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-015851.htm

did your computer chassis have a hda front audio panel ?

How to identify your desktop board audio codec
The Technical Product Specification (TPS) for each Intel® Desktop Board will
indicate whether your board supports AC’97 or Intel® HD Audio. To find the TPS
for your board:
Go to Intel® Desktop Board page.
Select your desktop board.
Click Product Documentation in the left-hand navigation channel.
Select Technical Product Specification.

Refer to Front Panel Audio Header Pinouts for additional onboard header
pinout information.

How to identify your front panel audio solution codec
To identify your front panel audio solution’s audio codec, refer to the
specifications or documentation for your PC chassis or front panel module. Note
that AC’97 and Intel® HD Audio front panel solutions are different and may
not be directly compatible or interchangeable.

You can also physically check the audio cable of the front panel audio
solution. If there is a cable connected to Pin 4, you have an Intel® HD
Audio module; if there is no cable to Pin 4, you have an AC97 module.

2012-11-10 Thread Alessio D'Ascanio
Same problem here:

$ lspci  | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family
High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05)

$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec* | grep Codec
Codec: Realtek ALC892

From pulseaudio debug log I didn't have messages when problem occour,
and I still have problem also if daemon is stopped.

As other people when audio clicks, at the same time I see window
flickering with alsamixer, volume applet and audio setting window.

In attachment, the alsa-info.sh output.
Tell me if you need extra info.

Disabling Auto-Mute Mode switch with alsamixer emprove sound
experience during listening, but it's a workaround and not solution.

I'm still seeing fast volume UPDOWN, the problem is fixed because
output channels are always on, it would be great to have speakers muted
when i plug my earphones :)

does alsamixer show any switch on and off rapidly ?

do you mean the active port switch rapidly frm one to another?

[Bug 1066062] Re: [quantal] Sound volume changes without user interaction

2012-10-21 Thread pungentstentch
Workaround for me, was checking what was happening, I saw at sound settings
that headphones were showing up very fast (like the blink of an eye) as the
flickering happened. I plugged the headphones to their entrance, flickering
gone but sound only on them, then I plugged the headphones with micro to the
front an the flickering is gone, now a new device is shown at sound settings.
If i take out the headphones from the micro flickering is back.
So now I have always my microphone plugged in...

For me it seems like sound conf is missing something about the frontal
panel, like if it was viewing and losing the headphones even when
they're not there.
