[Bug 1097140] Re: Lenovo D30 fails to resume from suspend

2013-08-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jeff Lane, as per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update
is available for your BIOS (A1KT47A). If you update to this, does it
change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1097140] Re: Lenovo D30 fails to resume from suspend

2013-01-10 Thread Jeff Lane
Joseph: mainline 3.8 RC2 also showed this failure.

Also, I no longer have access to the machine :(

** Summary changed:

- Lenovo B30 fails to resume from suspend
+ Lenovo D30 fails to resume from suspend

** Description changed:

This is probably the same as bug 1096200, but since this is for quantal,
I chose to open it separately.

- On a Lenovo B30 workstation, the sytem fails to resume from suspend.
+ On a Lenovo D30 workstation, the sytem fails to resume from suspend.
The system appears to successfully suspend and power off, but on resume,
  it never fully wakes up.

I've tried with the original and latest precise kernels AND I have also
tried with the mainline 3.8.0-030800rc2 kernel as well.

Initially, we thoguht this may be due to a problem with support for the
nVidia q4000 graphics card as it is based on a fairly new GPU, but I
tested that by switching out for a very old S3 Virge based VGA card and
the same problem persisted. The only option is to power cycle the
  machine.

The difference between Precise and Oneiric is that with 11.10, the
system resumes but then freezes, but with 12.04, it fails to resume at
all. However, in both cases, I am unable to successfuly use the system
  after suspending.
