Since it turned out that installing the fglrx package doesn't automatically run 'aticonfig --initial', I've attached log files for both when xorg.conf is not present and when it is generated by running 'aticonfig --initial', along with the generated xorg.conf file. Sorry about those being in

I can confirm this on 100%, with some more details: - I haven't tried ssh, but my power button works - not forcing it, I see messages about terminating running processes. - Kernel image version is irrelevant, I've tried with 3.5.0-17-generic, 3.5.0-21-generic, 3.5.0-22-generic. -
