Public bug reported:

Hi,

not sure whether this bug really belongs to libsane. But it occurs in
different applications like gscan2pdf, xsane, gimp plugin, therefore I
guess that the bug lives somewhere in libsane / sane-backends

The bug emerged with 12.10 (after upgrading from 12.04 LTS).

When I try to select the scan resolution in one of the mentioned sane
based GUIs, the dropdown menu for the scan resolution is empty and I can
only scan with the default 75dpi resolution. (In my 12.04 LTS setup I
can choose between different resolutions: 75dpi, 100dpi, 200dpi, ...).

This is my scanner:
$  sudo scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/usb/Photosmart_C6300_series?serial=MY87U270TS0544' is a
Hewlett-Packard Photosmart_C6300_series all-in-one
