[Bug 1099237] Re: Audio Stopped Working
Sound started working late yesterday. Only changes to the system were installing updates/patches that came out this week and last night I removed numerous foreign language fonts that I never use. The only place I know I can find a history of SW installs/removal is in the software center. I'll try to local the assocated log file and post if will assist. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099237 Title: Audio Stopped Working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1099237/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1099237] Re: Audio Stopped Working
There are 4 speakers on the computer and no separate head phone volume control. The function keys on the computer serve a dual purpose. Pressing an fn key allows traditional function key use of the function keys. Their default is to provide various hardware controls. F9 is down volume, F10 is up, and F11 disables sound when pressed without the fn key pressed along with the appropriate function key. gene bray On 1/16/2013 10:25 PM, Raymond wrote: Advanced information - PCI Vendor/Device/Subsystem ID's !!--- 00:1b.0 0403: 8086:1c20 (rev 05) Subsystem: 103c:1658 http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound.git;a=commitdiff;h=0c27c1805269f9ff01cc1d77752a662065ebcfe5;hp=acb03d440b8a723181e1d45e3517e43cb0792f8a + HP, STAC_92HD83XXX_HP_cNB11_INTQUAD), + SND_PCI_QUIRK(PCI_VENDOR_ID_HP, 0x1658, your laptop are hardcoded to use 4speaker model and there is no headphone playback volume control how many speakers do you have ? active profile: output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo sinks: alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo/#0: Built-in Audio Analog Stereo sources: alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo.monitor/#0: Monitor of Built-in Audio Analog Stereo alsa_input.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo/#1: Built-in Audio Analog Stereo ports: analog-output-speaker: Speakers (priority 1, available: unknown) properties: post the pulseaudio log https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099237 Title: Audio Stopped Working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1099237/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1099237] Re: Audio Stopped Working
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1099237/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Sound works fine in Windows 7. OS is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS patched current. Hardware platform is: HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC, Product number (P/N): A1U60AV. I performed a complete uninstall of all applications I could tell have a direct link to audio that were recently installed/undated (VLC) and rebooted. Did not fix the problem so reinstalled VLC.
