The help text for the option says When this option is enabled, focus
operations are limited only to the active Xinearama screen, while in
Feisty it works just the other way.
Actually... I suspect the confusion could have come from what separate screen
focus should mean:
1) let's separate focus
Seems to behave normal again in Gutsy.
(btw: I'm slightly confused since I think that the steps above by JarFil
actually describe the correct behavior)

Furthermore, I've verified that the value in ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc is
written correctly.
Meaning: checked=true, unchecked=false.
