As a manual workaround it is possible to change the screen resolution
back and forth between two resolutions after resume.

Xorg displays incorrect graphics after resume from suspend

Here's a photo of this display error.
This graphics problem is gone after I restart the X server, but that defeats
the purpose of suspend/resume (keeping your apps running).
