I have uninstalled nvidia drivers and stick to nouveau, to have menus, windows and that kind of eyecandy features... Hi, I'm affected too. Unity doesn't start up, I have to open a Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) ant type unity in order to see all the menus... Uninstalling the nvidia binary drivers and sticking with nouveau along with re-enabling the unity plugin from CCSM made unity reappear. Try to check if the unity plugin in enabled first. However, the nouveau driver has a whole new set of regressions.
