I hadn't thought to check the plugins as I was busy with normal work, however I can confirm the problem only happens with the draw spaces and tabs plugin consistently. Did you figure what plugin is creating the problem? I reactivated all plugins and i opened that file. me too consistently when pasting in a large clipboard. I'll try to get debug data posted later this week when work dies down a bit. i tried to get some backtrace but i couldn't. So i deactivate all gedit's plugins and it works.
