The icons should do a better job of showing the battery charge, and 2. It would be nice to show the battery percentage next to the icon These have been addressed in bug #824629 and bug #811777. Happily, both of these are fixed for 13.10. +1 I'd like the percentage very much in the indicator, since I love to tweak my battery optimizations.
