[Bug 1168188] Re: broken acpi backlight on lenovo g580 and ubuntu 13.04

2014-01-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Diego Carrera Gallego, this bug was reported a while ago and there
hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is
still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1168188] Re: broken acpi backlight on lenovo g580 and ubuntu 13.04

2013-06-26 Thread new4u
indeed, this solution worked for me, too. Just to add: on my N581, the
value for full brightness is 100. So, my file looks now like this:

The file /etc/rc.local :

echo 100 /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
exit 0

Maybe this can make life easier for some others, too. Thank you @Erwan
DUEDAL for posting this solution!

[Bug 1168188] Re: broken acpi backlight on lenovo g580 and ubuntu 13.04

2013-06-09 Thread Danilo Costa Viana
I can confirm this bug also happens on a fresh install of Kubuntu 13.04
using a custom COMPAL notebook with Intel i915GM graphics driver.

To me the workaround is just press Fn+F5 (brightness up) when the screen
goes blank, then the login screen appears normally.

Also if I boot into recovery mode and choose Resume on the recovery
options the screen is visible right away without having to press Fn+F5.

All workarounds already presented on this bug report also work, so it is
definitely the same bug.
