[Bug 1171733] Re: Cannot connect to OS X (Regression)

2015-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Unfortunately, the Remmina PPA Team PPA isn't a great alternative at this point
as attempting to use it consistently crashes Remmina:

[Bug 1171733] Re: Cannot connect to OS X (Regression)

2015-03-05 Thread Branton Horsley
For other's like me on 14.04 looking for a fix to this issue: This ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~remmina-ppa-team/+archive/ubuntu/remmina-next has
an updated version of the package available which resolves this issue.

One other thing that might worth mentioning from
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppleRemoteDesktop is that the color-
depth must be set to 15 bit to work with OSX servers

[Bug 1171733] Re: Cannot connect to OS X (Regression)

2014-12-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Liban Hanna, et. al., thank you for taking the time to report this bug
and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the
bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Vivid
Vervet.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[Bug 1171733] Re: Cannot connect to OS X (Regression)

2014-11-12 Thread Jordi Mallach
According to the Debian changelog, this was fixed in 1.0.0+git20140913-2
and 1.0.0+git20140930 upstream. However I still get the described
behaviour.

[Bug 1171733] Re: Cannot connect to OS X (Regression)

2014-03-11 Thread Russell Jones
Might this problem be related to this (fixed) regression? What version
of libvncserver is used?

LibVNCServer 0.9.8.2 released!

This is a maintenance release that fixes a regression in libvncclient
that crept in with Apple Remote Desktop support added with 0.9.8.
Viewers that were not adapted to the new functionality would fail
connecting to ARD servers before.

You can get it over on
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libvncserver/files/libvncserver/0.9.8.2/LibVNCServer-0.9.8.2.tar.gz/download

(I'm going by this https://github.com/FreeRDP/Remmina/issues/75 which
says the problem is upstream)

[Bug 1171733] Re: Cannot connect to OS X (Regression)

2014-03-11 Thread Ash
On 26-Feb-2014 I identified the cause of this problem and proposed a
fix. I emailed the maintainer of remmina-plugin-vnc (Debian package)
(dktrkr...@debian.org) with a breakdown of the problem and the fix/s. I
did not receive a reply, so I will just attach email here instead.

It has to do with the fact that when the remmina vnc plugin is built on
newer versions of Debian (and/or Ubuntu) the compiler builds against the
system package version of libvncserver rather than the customized
internal version of libvncserver packaged with the remmina-plugin-vnc
source. These days the system package version of libvncserver is the
better option, and this is probably intended behavior, but remmina-
plugin-vnc looks for certain custom defined flags in its personal
version of libvncserver in order to enable Apple Authentication support.
It doesnt see these flags, so this feature doesnt work.

In my case, I simply removed the #IFDEF checks for these defined flags,
recompiled (still against the Debian package version of libvncserver)
and it worked correctly.

I would prefer to see this bug fixed at the Debian level, rather than
just the Ubuntu package.

remmina-plugin-vnc from 12.04 helped, unfortunatelly some forcing is
necessary (dpkg --ignore-depends=remmina -i )
