I can't reproduce this on Debian testing with Emacs 24.3. report-emacs-bug ignores any errors in the call to list-load-path-shadows, so I have no idea why (or how) this could cause you a problem. Not that a missing simple.el should cause an error anyway.
BTW, since emacs24-el is only 14MB in size, I wish distributions would stop splitting Emacs this way. 14MB is a tiny amount of space in this day and age, and the .el files are basically an essential part of Emacs's documentation, if nothing else. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172214 Title: report-emacs-bug doesn't work unless you have emacs24-el installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/emacs24/+bug/1172214/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
