I installed an upstream version on December 24 and was about to smile
that the bug has been fixed (and update the bug as per your below).
Unfortunately, this morning my mouse froze again. I'm hoping I've
installed a correct

I've just tried it with Trusty cdimage from 2013-12-05 and unfortunately
still encounter the same error :-)

AnGus, thank you for testing the development release. Could you please test the
latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
AnGus, Saucy is not the latest development release. Trusty is, available
via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
