The problems had occured in Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty. In 7.10 Gutsy I haven't
had any problems, except for the one thing that you mentioned, it takes
a while to transfer the files, I guess this bug should be marked
resolved or something.

After looking at messages it appears that what you tried to do was put a
file that was too big for the SD card, is this the case? And if so, it
should know how big it has to be, and if too small, warn the user
without causing a breakage. Also I am now on Hardy Alpha so I cannot
confirm the problem
This is also a regression in Gutsy - 7.10, when trying to copy files it
appears to transfer, try unmounting the volume for safe disconnect and
hangs at the Writing last files to device box that appears bottom
right.

Ah that's because it archives the files and it transfers them after a while :)
For the record, I hate that too, it takes much longer for the device to
transfer data.
P.S. You or I could file another bug about that.
