Same here on 14.04. I can also verify that it is not a hardware problem.
I use a macbook with a pair of apple bluetooth keyboard and apple
trackpad at home and the same at work. At both places the keyboard works
just fine even at wide ranges and the trackpad (both of them) loses
connection every
13.10 Absolutely the same problem. My Apple bluetooth keyboard works
much more stable and on much longer ranges than Apple trackpad. Both
using Plugable USB bluetooth dongle USB-BT4LE.

I am using precise and have the same issue. Not so much with the apple
keyboard though it also happens sometimes.
