I can confirm this in 15.04, still no attachment unless I set
thunderbird as the e-mail program explicitly.

Anyone still seeing this issue: Did you run with a fresh profile? (To
clear the profile remove the folder ~/.config/libreoffice).

While it workarounds the issue temporarily, it should be solved in the package.
There are two options for Ubuntu:
* pre-fill the field in the libreoffice package with thunderbird
(Ubuntu-centric)
* add a link /usr/bin/sensible-louma which points to /usr/bin/thunderbird
