I know this is an expired thread but I have the same problem and as a
workaround it is possible to boot with kernel argument
modprobe.blacklist=nouveau the installer will start as well as the
live cd function. I will also try to do a full install and reboot.

mainline one) via:

I was wondering if there were any updates on this, I have exactly the same
issue...
Trusty booted fine.
However I don't think running trusty for myself is a good idea...
