This is still a problem in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex, x86_64) with
Firefox 3.0.13 and ColorZilla 2.0.2.1.

This still appears to be a problem in 3.0.1 (64-bit hardy). Clicking on
the eyedropper displays:
Installation problem or the Eyedropper mode isn't supported on your
platform. You can go to the ColorZilla Home Page to see if your
platform is supported. If so, try re-installing the extension.
I can confirm this behaviour and the successful workaround for
firefox-2.0.0.12 in Gutsy and ColorZilla-1.9. I have written a script to
patch the workaround after each update., but it would be nicer and
neater if that were done in the post install script of the package
itself.

This issue is already well known and has been a concern for a long time.
Imo it should and could be fixed. Why not package the firefox properly
for ubuntu? IIRC, some version of Fedora Linuxalso included firefox
incompatible with colorzilla.
