Public bug reported:

Yesterday I did a cold boot of the system and later suspended it. On
waking it this morning I could enter a few characters of my login
password, and then the system froze.

Yesterday I was running a test for bug 1201180, "Pressing power button
turns off the PC ignoring the presence of another session manager", but
I see no evidence that this was related to the suspend/resume failure.
Pressing the power button caused an orderly shutdown and then power off.

Since upgrading to Kubuntu 13.10 from 13.04 I have had several
suspend/resume failures, though there seem to be fewer after I upgraded
the BIOS (bug 1251333). It seems these failures happen after doing a
routine upgrade of the kernel and then a warm boot. However, as I say,
this failure was after a cold boot.
