I have a Zepto Znote 6625WD which uses the same mobile IDE controller and am experiencing the same problem, my dvd drive is not being recognized. New kernel (2.6.22-10-generic) fixed it for me on a Dell Inspiron 1420. The fix in the new 2.6.22-10-generic kernel hasn't worked for me.
