the 2.6.31 kernel. Assuming this was fixed with the 2.6.30 kernel I
would expect it to then be resolved for Karmic. Unfortunately as you
mentioned without access to the hw it's hard to confirm it's fixed.
However, lets go
Sorry, I don't have that particular computer anymore. The upstream bug
should have been fixed in the 2.6.30 kernel version, but I didn't have
the chance to test it.

Hi milo,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue,

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

As of bug #244997 I can't boot the computer so I can't test if ACPI is
fully working.

Same problem here. Still doesn't work on Ubuntu 7.10 kernel 2.6.22-14-generic.
If I stop the acpi daemon and do a cat /proc/acpi/event, only the power button
shows an action, all other keys are dead. The battery isn't detected, and
suspend and hibernate don't work (suspend just reboots and
Even with the latest update, ACPI still doesn't work

The problem is still present with the latest kernel (2.6.22-10).
A note: booting with acpi=off I can use the backlight switch button and
even the brightness button with Fn key, but I have to manually shut the
computer off.
