could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a
terminal while booted into a Ubuntu repository kernel (not a mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

Changing GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX= to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=acpi_osi=Linux,
acpi_sleep=nonvs fixed the suspend problem on my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge
E540 for me:-)

I am also affected wih a Thinkpad Edge 330
If I try with a Trusty USB-Install Stick (Try Ubuntu) the first
suspend/resume works(!), when i close the lid the 2. time the Indicator
LED flashes, screen black, system hang
It looks similar to this old description:
btw: the tip in the old link above
changing sata-mode from ahci to compability in bios did the trick then,
maybe this helps
