@Geert: I would also switch to LXDE because forcing windows controls to
the left is something I find stupid (most other DEs have them on the
right) and disrespectful to right-to-left users.
Unfortunately, LXDE doesn't support switching among windows with
Super+1..9, so I'm stuck with Unity.
Well, if Ubuntu forces me to use their illogical window setup, that's
one step too far. Because of this, I will uninstall Ubuntu and go back
to LXDE again, which I used before to my great satisfactory!

The best is: if buttons position is not customiszble anymore please remove the
layout option in Ubuntu Tweak asap.

Unless there are changes made in Unity to respect user preferences, we
can not do anything. And it looks unlikely that any changes will happen
in Unity to allow this. Hence wont-fix for now. We'll revisit this when
there's a way to customize window control positions.

I think this bug (and1310056, dup of this bug) should not be closed as
wont-fix, it should be reopened and reassigned to whatever software
component (Unity, presumably) is making this behavior change impossible.

Sorry, this feature is not supported anymore for consistency reason: the ubuntu
desktop moved the window controls to the left years ago, and unity designers
decided to move window controls to the left of the windows when they are
maximized.
So, having window controls on the right for restored
