After the upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04 fan on my Dell Latitude E5520 is working 
weird.  It works in cycles as follows:
100% for about 0.1s
0% 0.1s
cca 60% for 2 - x seconds, depending on cpu temperature I think.

Before the upgrade fan speed has been set depending on cpu temperature
SMOOTHLY with some hysteresis.
