If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Ok, thanks. I have upgraded to the latest version and it seems ok. Whenever I started Aptana checking the editor was the first. To be honest I can't remember what I did. It was a couple of months back that I was working on my web site. I have a feeling I may have somehow finished the job in Aptana, because I can't remember sticking with any alternative software. I have both version 3.4.1 and 3.4.2 on my machine, so perhaps I used 3.4.2, but I can't remember for certain. I don't want to test it right now because I am in the middle of something and I don't want any crashes. I can't remember where I got 3.4.2 from either, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. I now suspect that the issue may be something to do with Open Java. I switched to Oracle Java this morning and so far I have not had a crash, although it is still early days. I will let you know if I do get another xserver crash.
