While not the ideal solution, I have reverted the kernel back to the 3.2 kernel, which is supported. I should never have moved to the 3.8 kernel, but at the time it actually fixed a bunch of use-cases which now are fixed by using the 14.04 boxes. Moving forward, we will not be using the HWE kernel
