[Bug 1355026] Re: small /boot (as created for full-disk encryption) confuses update-manager
Not sure if using dkms, but if so may be related to bug 1515513 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1355026 Title: small /boot (as created for full-disk encryption) confuses update- manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1355026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1355026] Re: small /boot (as created for full-disk encryption) confuses update-manager
I think this bug should be considered of high importance as it is a security risk because security updates can not be installed. It happened to me on a clean install with default full-disk-encryption partitioning within about 2 months of use with a 1TB disk; so I'm guessing the 3 people showing as affected by this bug is the tip of the iceberg - or maybe most people using full-disk-encryption avoid using the standard software updater. Running `apt-get autoremove --purge` doesn't appear to free up enough disk space for software-updater to work either. Thanks for the tip using `apt-get dist-upgrade`, that worked OK for me too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1355026 Title: small /boot (as created for full-disk encryption) confuses update- manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1355026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1355026] Re: small /boot (as created for full-disk encryption) confuses update-manager
** Description changed: Every time a kernel update comes in, the update-manager scolds me for not having enough disk free on /boot. I try to autoremove everything I can, but in the end `sudo apt-get dist-upgrade` does the upgrade with no problems. Separately from why the installer gave me such a teensy /boot (doesn't seem future-proof given the trends for kernel sizes), why can't update- manager work out the upgrade? + Not to be confused with bug 1389620, where autoremove would leave enough + space but Software Updater doesn't suggest it. + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: update-manager 1:0.196.12 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-32.57-generic 3.13.11.4 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-32-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.3 Aptdaemon: - + Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Aug 11 07:46:24 2014 GsettingsChanges: - b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'show-details' b'true' - b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'window-height' b'356' - b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'first-run' b'false' - b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'window-width' b'444' - b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'launch-time' b'1407653443' + b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'show-details' b'true' + b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'window-height' b'356' + b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'first-run' b'false' + b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'window-width' b'444' + b'com.ubuntu.update-manager' b'launch-time' b'1407653443' InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-05-29 (73 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release amd64 (20140417) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: update-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1355026 Title: small /boot (as created for full-disk encryption) confuses update- manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1355026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
