Hi Nisha,
We love squashing bugs, but we can't help doing so in other
distributions. If you're already running the latest version of OpenWRT
my suggestion is to file a bug report there and point the OpenWRT devs
to this bug report, it should ease their debugging work and provide
justification for
Hello @paride, I am observing the same problem in Net-snmp version 5.8
with OpenWRT.
root@OpenWrt:~# snmpd -DALL -Lo -c /etc/config/snmpd.conf &
root@OpenWrt:~# buffer too small to read octet string (11 < 11)
Turning on AgentX master support.
/etc/config/snmpd.conf: line 21: Warning: Unknown
This is fixed in Debian version 5.8+dfsg-1, which means this should be
fixed in Focal and Groovy. I'm marking this bug as Fix Released. If you
believe this is still a bug please change the bug status back to New and
we'll look at it again. Thanks!

I'm trying to update the debian task to point at the new bug I filed:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=924343
but launchpad keeps timing out. Let me try next to just delete that
task, and add a new one.

Ok, here is what I had to do in xenial to get the warning to disappear
without any new errors:
Edit /etc/default/snmpd:
- comment the "export MIBS=" line:
#export MIBS=
- remove ",mteTrigger, mteTriggerConf" from the SNMPDOPTS line:
SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -g snmp -I -smux -p

The problem is located in /etc/default/snmpd. It seems that some snmp-
module does not get loaded. If you remove the -I entry it works fine, at
least if all mibs are installed correctly.
